While marketing and customer service have long been critical components in the success of any business, few industries have had to overhaul their processes to implement both as quickly?and so publicly?as hospitals and health systems have in the past decade.

Historically, hospitals relied on superior medical technologies to attract better physicians who would, in turn, bring in new patients. A myriad of changes?from insurance overhauls to a societal shift toward superior customer service expectations?has forced hospitals and health systems to drastically change their business models in order to remain competitive, grow revenues and attract new valuable patients.

Using their patients? health and financial records?along with detailed information from consumer marketing firms?hospitals are conducting targeted marketing to attract new patients, save lives and grow revenue.

St. Anthony?s Medical Center in St. Louis, for example, uses patient data to personalize mailings with an individual?s name and a picture of someone of similar age or gender. It is more expensive, but the strategy results in better response rates. From October 2010 through July 2011, St. Anthony?s spent $25,000 on a targeted mailing to 40,000 women for mammogram screenings. The letters led 1,000 women to get the test, which generated $530,000 in revenue from screenings, biopsies and other related services

At Lori Carr & Associates we?ve worked with several health systems that are clearly and quantifiably proving marketing ROI with such activities, leading to significant revenue growth and brand recognition. Is there a defined, customer-friendly process for booking appointments and facilitating payment? Is staff trained properly to cross and up sell services?

The bigger a health system, the more opportunities there are for disconnections among departments. On the run, bin Laden lived in 5 houses

ISLAMABAD (AP) ? Osama bin Laden lived in five safe houses while on the run in Pakistan and fathered four children ? two of them born in government hospitals, his youngest widow has told investigators.

The details of bin Laden's life as a fugitive in Pakistan are contained in the interrogation report of Amal Ahmed Abdel-Fatah al-Sada, bin Laden's 30-year-old Yemeni widow. They appear to raise fresh questions over how bin Laden was able to remain undetected for so long in Pakistan after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, despite being the subject of a massive international manhunt.

Details from the report were first published by the Pakistani newspaper Dawn.

The Associated Press obtained a copy on Friday.

Al-Sada is currently in Pakistani custody, along with bin Laden's two other wives and several children. They were arrested after the U.S raid that killed bin Laden in May in his final hideout in the Pakistani army town of Abbottabad. The U.S. Navy SEALs shot her in the leg during the operation.

Mohammed Amir Khalil, a lawyer for the three widows, said the women would be formally charged for illegally staying in Pakistan on April 2. That charge carries a maximum five-year prison sentence.

Since the raid that killed bin Laden, it has been known that he lived mostly in Pakistan since 2002.

Al-Sada's account says she flew to Pakistan in 2000 and traveled to Afghanistan where she married bin Laden before the Sept. 11 attacks.

After that, the family "scattered" and she traveled to Karachi in Pakistan. She later met up with bin Laden in Peshawar and then moved to the Swat Valley, where they lived in two houses. They moved one more time before settling in Abbottabad in 2005.

According to the report, al-Sada said that two of her children were born in government hospitals, but that she stayed only "two or three hours" in the clinics on both occasions. The charge sheet against the three women says that they gave officials fake identities.

During the manhunt for bin Laden, most U.S. and Pakistani officials said that bin Laden was likely living somewhere along the remote Afghanistan-Pakistan border, possibly in a cave.

The fact he was living in populated parts of Pakistan raised suspicions elements in the Pakistani security forces may have been hiding him. U.S. officials have said they have found no evidence this was the case.

Primal Faith Religions

In a nut shell, Primal Faith traditions are religions that have been in existence since the beginning of recorded history.? They are considered to be both pre-historic and pre-literate.? Primal, Indigenous, and traditional religions are terminologies that are used when referring to Primal Faiths.? These religions are the initial sources of human religion.? Primal religion is also referred to as the "mother" of all religions.? An integral part of primal religions are symbols and myths.? Due to the fact that these groups of religions are extremely old in age, most will not be exercised in faith today however, some aspects of the ancient faiths may still exist as rituals or specific beliefs in other practiced religions such as Judaism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, and Chinese folk religion.?

The initial problem with global religious conversion was a lack of planning however, as time progressed selected primal faiths began to transform global politics towards their way of life.? As these selected religions began their domination process, others were simply forgotten.? Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism were among the top three dominating religions.? Today Christianity and Islam are still the two top religions of the world at 33% and 21% respectively.? Christianity denominations are as follows: Catholic, Protestant, Eastern Orthodox, Pentecostal, Anglican, Monophysite, AIC's, Latter Day Saints, Evangelical, SDA's, Jehovah's Witness, Quakers, AOG, Nominal, etc?? Islam denominations are as follows: Shiite, Sunni, etc?? Although "Pagan" and "Idolators" were the titles that were used to refer to as Christians and Islamic faiths respectively, these titles are extremely negative in nature.? As this dissertation is written not to offend any religious beliefs, the negative titles used above are as an academic piece of information.? If in fact any person is offended by these documented reference terms, I sincerely apologize.?

The characteristics of primal Faith are as follows:

Oral canon, a section of oral stories of sacred nature, not written.? Oral stories have a unique way of making a story come to life however text has a way of preserving exact information and descriptive phrases.
A very wavy line between the spiritual and secular dimensions.
A pre-technology world base religious system.
Religions that deal with all aspects of life, nature and spirituality.
Life consists of two divisions, work and social.? Work and social were not considered to be opposite sides, but two items of the same concept, life.? Practicing religion was considered to be a part of life, not a separate part of life.? One practices religion the same as one breathes, every moment and without thinking.
Primal faiths acquired the characteristic of "eternity", not, "forever".? Forever deals with the sense of time.? Time carries with it the concept of having to "keep track" of something.? Eternity however doesn't require a watch or calendar.? It simply is timeless existence.?
Rituals have two characteristics: 1. Play acting or performing concepts of a specific faith or religion.? 2. The ritual carries substantial significance for the faith or religion.
Two concepts, harmony and balance are what make up a well achieved life and all items that interfere with this harmony must be dealt with swiftly.
Primal religions both have multiple Gods and believe that God and humans work together to create a well-balanced life.? Christianity however believes that there is only one God and God is above us all.
Magic is utilized in Primal Faiths or religions.

The afterlife of a human of a Primal faith is unique.? The body of a dead individual is thought to have gone limp due to the absence of the spirit.? The spirit has thought to have gone to the invisible world where only spirits may enter. ?Due to the method of beliefs and ritual passing (orally), the "story teller" may see to it to add, alter, or delete any information or tell the "story" in a unique flamboyant style.?

Primal Indigenous

The Primal Indigenous religions (also known as Tribal Religionists, Animists, and Ethnic religionists) are a way of life, not only a religion and it includes thousands of various religions as well.? It concerns the lives of approximately 300 million individuals within the locations of Asia and Africa.? Other sources have the religions population at between 100 and 457 million.? These totals include African Primal Indigenous religions, Shamanism and Paganism.? Many data bases and religious category indexes have Asia and India having the majority of Primal Indigenous population.? The Primal Indigenous religions are recorded as to fit into one category due to being documented in the pre-literate and pre-technological era.? They have been discovered to have been in various different countries, continents, and areas however they share similar basic common ways of life and religious concepts.? As previously stated, religion is their way of life.?

Primal Indigenous religions are known as being henotheistic (acknowledging the belief of more than one God however, only worshiping one God).? Everything that exists is thought to be connected, the material world, the immaterial world, the living, and the dead.? As Primal Faith members have no distinction and combine their work and social lives, so do Primal Indigenous religions.? They carry various superficial differences however, they practice mirrored core beliefs.

Again, as Primal Faith dates their beliefs and rituals to pre-literate, so do the Primal Indigenous.? Their beliefs and rituals are passed down through stories told by its members from generations through time.? These stories covered areas such as world views and operations, societal discoveries and workings, and of course their religious workings, having no separation from their daily life.?

Throughout my research I have come across the same messages countless times.? The messages are as follows:

Their social, family and religious lives are all the same to the Primal Indigenous and Faith individuals.
The basic core beliefs are the same regardless of territory, country, continent, or area.
The physical and spiritual worlds are one and the same.
Time is not linear, but timeless and eternal.
Beliefs and traditions are known through myths passed down in an oral fashion as well as all other messages throughout the Primal faiths.

More Patent Legal Woes: T-Mobile Sued By OTI Over Use Of NFC in ...

Here we go again: today brings another mobile patent infringement suit ? this time against T-Mobile USA, and over a technology that has had very little use to date, but a lot of potential.

On Track Innovations says that the carrier is selling, ?or offering to sell?, ?at least? two handset models ? the HTC Amaze 4G and the Nokia Astound ? that it claims violate a near-field communications patent owned by OTI. NFC is the technology that is the centerpiece for a number of contactless mobile payments services and data sharing other applications.

The case was filed today in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, OTI says.

OTI says that it holds some 100 patents ? both approved and pending applications ? covering a pretty wide range of areas, from NFC and other contactless payments technologies, to secure ID, and? ?petroleum and parking solutions.?

OTI says in its suit (embedded below) that T-Mobile has been damaging OTI?s business ?by selling and/or offering to sell data transaction devices having contact and contactless modes of operation enabling Near Field Communications capabilities, including at least the following such devices: HTC Amaze 4G, Nokia Astound.? That could leave the door open for other devices to be named. There are no damages specified in the suit.

OTI has been enforcing its patents already and says it has signed a licensing deal ?multibillion dollar? corporation, covering a different patent for contactless smart SIM cards. It doesn?t specify the name of the licensee.

?We believe in the strength and value of our intellectual property and have the resources to protect it,? Oded Bashan, chief executive of Rosh Pina, Israel-based OTI, said in a statement.

OTI says that its technology is supported by MasterCard and Visa. Among the products it sells itself are NFC devices and readers, including a product, the?COPNI (Contactless Payment and NFC Insert), that can be attached to a phone to make it NFC-capable, even if it does not have an NFC chip built into the device itself.

Although some companies like Google, Nokia and RIM have committed to implementing NFC, there are others that have not and some have seen these ?bolt-on? solutions as one way forward to speed up usage and adoption. There were just 30 million NFC-equipped handsets sold in 2011, says Berg Insight, but it predicts that number will go up to 700 million by 2016.

Up to now, many of the mobile patent suits have been against device and component makers although there seem to be an increasing number of digital media suits covering services (for example, the infringement case Yahoo has brought against Facebook) that widens the net of plaintiffs and defendants.

Pests come in all shapes and sizes. Proper waste management and drainage of still water, eliminates the breeding ground of many pests, including bees. Garbage provides food and shelter for many unwanted organisms, as well as an area where still water might collect and be used as a breeding ground by mosquitoes. Communities that have proper garbage collection and disposal, have far less of a problem with bees, flies, mosquitoes, and other pests than those that don't. Open air sewers are ample breeding ground for various pests as well. By building and maintaining a proper sewer system, this problem is eliminated.

Apple ready to license its nano-SIM design for free, on one not-so-nano condition

If you hadn't heard, there are two rival nano-SIM designs going around, but there's only room for one of them to become an industry standard. Nokia, Motorola and RIM sit together in one corner, and we've already covered why they think their design is superior. On the other side of the ring sits Apple, which has its own tactics for bringing ETSI, the European Telecoms Standards Institute, over to its way of thinking. According to a legal letter shown to FOSS Patents by a "perfectly reliable source", Apple is prepared to license its nano-SIM design royalty-free, so long as it becomes the new standard and all other nano-SIM patent holders reciprocate the gesture. Such a gambit may not appease Cupertino's rivals and it certainly doesn't address their technical concerns, but it might show that Apple isn't looking to profit out of this particular format war and is simply continuing its quest for greater clarity on FRAND licensing terms. Then again, it could all just be lawyer-speak.

Update: Nokia has responded to Apple's move, making it clear that it still prefers its own design. Mark Durrant, director of communications for the Finnish firm said, "the principal issues remain the technical superiority of our proposal and that Apple's proposal does not meet the pre-agreed ETSI requirements... Apple's proposal for royalty free licensing seems no more than an attempt to devalue the intellectual property of others." We expect this to go back and forth a few more times.
