Police were called twice to the wedding of a former Premier League footballer after fights and disturbances broke out between guests.

Officers are now investigating a further incident involving guests on a bus following the wedding of former Newcastle United player Danny Guthrie.

Mr Guthrie, who was released by his club earlier this month, married Rebecca Middleman at historic Allerton Castle, near Harrogate, North Yorkshire, on June 1.

North Yorkshire Police said they were called to the venue at 2.25am on June 2 after reports of guests fighting.

Officers attended again around two-and-a-half hours later following a call about guests banging on doors after they had been locked out of the hotel.

No arrests were made during either visit.

Police now want to speak to any guests who were on a bus taking people from the venue after they received a further call on June 3 from a woman who said she had been involved in a disturbance on the vehicle.

A police spokeswoman said: ?North Yorkshire Police were called at 2.25am on the morning of 2 June to reports of a fight among a group of guests at Allerton Castle, Allerton Park, near Knaresborough.

?On arrival, the guests were dispersing and leaving the venue and no complaints were received from any victims. No arrests were made.

?Police received a further call at 4.50am from another guest who became concerned when a group of people began banging on doors and causing a disturbance at the hotel.

?On arrival, police found a number of guests had been locked out and were trying to get back into the hotel. No crimes were reported and no arrests were made.

?Police received another call on 3 June from a woman who reported being caught up in a disturbance on a bus which was about to leave the same venue in the early hours of 2 June.

?This incident is currently under investigation. Anyone who was present and witnessed the incident is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.?

Jan Cook, who manages Allerton Castle with her husband John, said she could not comment about the incidents.

Allerton Castle is described on its website as ?England?s most elegant and important gothic revival stately home?. It was once owned by King George IV?s brother Prince Frederick, the Grand Old Duke of York, in the 18th century.
