The Vines Hospital is a 98-bed comprehensive behavioral health facility located in beautiful Ocala. We provide 24-hour, 7-day a week services for those dealing with psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues. The Vines provides detox, acute, residential, outpatient and partial hospitalization services for adolescents, adults and seniors. . The hospital provides individual, group, and family therapy, as well as community-based services to assist with ongoing recovery.

We currently have an opening for a qualified Mental Health Tech. The Mental Health Tech provides direct care to child and adolescent patients with psychiatric disorders, to ensure the safety and well being of the patients. MHTs have the primary responsibility for ensuring the patient?s safety on the unit. Mental Health Techs work under the direct supervision of a Milieu Coordinator or Registered Nurse.

Requirements
1. Education: High school graduate or equivalent with some college coursework in psychology or related field. Bachelor?s degree in psychology or related field preferred.

2. Experience: One (1) year of related experience required, with knowledge of patient care techniques regarding co-occurring, mentally ill, or chemically dependent patients with understanding of co-occurring disorders, preferred. Strongly prefer a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a Mental Health Tech working with children, adolescents and/or adults.

3. License/Certification: None required. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) a plus.

4. Skills: Displays an understanding of the basic concepts of safe, supportive, nurturing, & therapeutic human interactions.
? Demonstrates understanding of program & philosophy & is able to interpret & implement patient care.
? Displays an active interest in learning.
? Demonstrates creativity & problem solving skills.
? Demonstrates leadership by training new employees.
? Effectively interacts with patients, peers, & families.

5. Physical Requirements: Extensive walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Able to assist with the restraint of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds. Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions

The Pines had long teetered on the brink of a shutdown, but the UHS takeover of the facility appears to have erased what standards had been put in place. A short time after the facility fell under UHS control in mid-November, it earned serious punitive sanctions. Two months into the company's tenure, a sense of lawlessness pervaded the facility, according to a review of documents obtained by The Huffington Post through a public records request.

North Carolina, which had sent more than 100 kids to The Pines, stopped doing so this past spring, when that state's Division of Medical Assistance, along with other agencies, found widespread and systemic breakdowns in how the facility treated its children, according to the documents. In mid-April, the state concluded that it had to pull all 140 or so of its children -- including T. -- out of The Pines, according to email records.

Virginia has since barred new admissions and slapped the facility with a provisional license. According to the documents, Virginia inspectors found that Pines staff had been caught watching a pornographic DVD with residents, that one resident admitted to selling drugs and buying drugs from a Pines employee and that records concerning the care of one resident had been "fabricated."

In a statement released to The Huffington Post, Universal Health Services defended its practices: "The Pines management team is continually reviewing clinical programming, procedures and staff training to enhance the provision of safe, effective, and patient-centered treatment," the company statement reads. "The Pines is actively addressing any and all concerns relating to the treatment of our residents."

UHS would neither confirm nor deny whether T. contracted herpes at The Pines
